<p><span style="font-size:20pt;"></span><span style="font-size:14pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">The poem “the raven” is about a man who has lost his love the fair maiden Lenore. The poem is taken place in a chamber of the man’s house.</font></span><span style="font-size:14pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">The time its taken place is at the end of December in a bleak dark night. </font></span><span style="font-size:14pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">The mood in the poem is of sadness and of distress. As the man questions the raven possibly as if it is a demon that is trying to remind him of his love, his fair maiden Lenore. </font></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14pt;"></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14pt;"></span><span style="font-size:14pt;"><font face="Times New Roman"> </font></span><span style="font-size:14pt;"></span><span style="font-size:20pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Symbolism</font></span><span style="font-size:20pt;"><font face="Times New Roman"> </font></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:20pt;"></span><span style="font-size:14pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">One of the symbolisms in the poem is that of the fact that the time of the poem is that it is at the end of December could be that of change as the New Year is at the end of December this could also mean that the man in the poem is trying to find the closure about the fact that her fair maiden Lenore has passed away </font></span><span style="font-size:14pt;"><font face="Times New Roman"> </font></span><font face="Times New Roman"><span style="font-size:14pt;">Another Symbolism I this poem is the raven as it keeps repeating the phrase “ never more” but the narrator believes that all it says is never more <span> </span></span><span>&#8220;what it utters is its only stock and store”. </span><span style="font-size:14pt;">Also another symbolism with the raven is that it perches on a bust of Pallas which is Greek goddess of wisdom so does the poem suggest that the raven speaks of wisdom? as it perches on a bizarre ornament.</span></font><span style="font-size:14pt;"><font face="Times New Roman"> </font></span><span style="font-size:14pt;"><span><font face="Times New Roman"> </font></span></span></p>
